Voice of Communities workstream lead

Hi, I’m Rachel and I am the CEO of a fantastic charity called Essex Council for Voluntary Youth Services (ECVYS). At ECVYS our members work with over 240,000 children & young people across Essex, Southend & Thurrock and we seek to represent, listen to, and resource the voluntary youth sector to do their amazing work with young people.

I also work for the VVU for two days a week in helping to oversee various projects and lead the ‘Voice of Community’ work stream. This work stream is so important as it makes sure that community groups are at the heart of decision making and spending at the VVU, and helps us to invest in local communities.

I absolutely love this role as it’s great to be able to resource the voluntary youth sector and meet great people.

I have been involved in youth work for over 25yrs and I still love it just as much as when my own youth leader first got me involved.

When I am not at work, you will probably find me volunteering with a local group, chilling with my family or seeking out the best noodles in Chelmsford!
