As we come into the final quarter of our 2023 / 2024 grant we have received some lovely feedback from young people that have attended the projects we have supported, including those supported with VVU funding.
We would really like to share some of these quotes with you so you can understand the difference even just a small amount of funding can make to the lives of children and young people throughout our county.
When asked “What difference is this project making to you?” some of the replies were:
- “I have been taught to budget and how to cook on a budget and I have also made new long term friends” Young person, Epping Forest
- “I learn lots of important things we don’t get told in school”. Young person, Brentwood
- “Massive difference – I never get to talk about my past and my trauma so to have someone to listen is huge.” Young person, Colchester
- “Got me back into school” Young person, Clacton
- “It’s my one chance to meet with other children who understand my situation” Young person, Basildon
- “I meet friends who are similar to me it’s fun and I love going” Young person, Chelmsford
When asked what they would be doing if the project or service wasn’t available, some replies were:
- “There is nobody else who has ever even known we are alive” Young Person, Colchester
- “I would not have many friends” Young person, Epping Forest
- “Losing out on childhood” Young person, Basildon
- “Just sitting at home being sad” Young person, Brentwood
- “Excluded from school” Young person, Clacton
- “I’d be dead” Young person, Colchester
We would like to thank all the projects we have supported and helped fund during 2023 – 2024 for the work they have done over the last 12 months to support children, young people and their families. We look forward to announcing our 2024 – 2025 grant recipients in the next few weeks.
