The VVU team recently dropped in on a Kids Inspire supporter day to hear an update on the fantastic work the charity does.
We support Kids Inspire through our Violence & Vulnerability secondary prevention work stream by funding their whole-family therapeutic support programme ‘Healing Connections’. The funding enables Kids Inspire to deliver a targeted countywide programme.
The programme supports children, young people and their families affected by adverse childhood experiences, impacted by emotional trauma and who have an increased risk of engaging in violence. Support is also provided to parents and carers to help them to identify risks and warning signs.
Through the therapeutic activities young people have an increased sense of belonging and resilience, preventing issues from escalating into criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.
This year our funding will enable Kids Inspire to deliver 1,200 therapeutic support sessions, benefitting 60 families and up to 180 individuals (1 child and 2 parents/carers). Referrals will centre around children and adolescents aged 10-18 years (up to 25 years for young people with SEND) who are at an increased risk of engaging in violence, crime, and gangs.
