New films celebrate positive outcomes for young people

We have just released some new films that showcase the variety of support the VVU, its partners, and funded organisations, offer to children, young people and their parents across the county.

Using four different films, we show the way young people are supported to turn their lives around or avoid making bad decisions, thanks to the presence of trusted adults in their lives and supportive youth organisations that they attend and feel part of.

It is important to have the input and insight of young people into anything we create, that is aimed at young people or refers to them, so we worked with students from South Essex College in Southend to co-create the films.  This co-creation included the students writing scripts, as well as having support to direct, shoot and act in their stories. Having young people’s involvement gives us a unique insight into their lived experience and how they speak, think and behave.

We also thank Bar n Bus and Riverview for letting us come and film at your respective projects and for the great work you do to support young people in your local communities.

We are excited to share the films and will use them to showcase how, with the right intervention, positive outcomes can happen. The films signpost to resource pages on our website which we are continually expanding to keep relevant and current.

You can view the films on our YouTube channel.
