Colchester welcomes the Knife Angel
The Knife Angel arrived in Colchester on the 1 October. A tightly navigated route into Colchester saw the sculpture secured in position by the Jumbo Tower where it will remain for the next month.
Since the sculpture has been in the city, volunteers at the site have engaged with hundreds of members of the public, plus youth groups and school and college groups about the message the Knife Angel sends out, the emotions it evokes and the issues it wants to tackle.
The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, was created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour. Not only does the Knife Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it also acts as a memorial to those who have lost their lives through knife crime.
