Bringing together all Violence Reduction Units
Last week members of the VVU attended a two-day event in Reading with the Home Office and hosted by Thames Valley Violence Reduction Partnership. The event bought together all the 22 Violence Reduction Units (of which Essex VVU is one).
The first day was focused on working with our Home Office partners on the Serious Violence Duty and was a great opportunity to help inform the statutory guidance which is currently being reviewed.
There was a lot of interaction around plans and delivery of the violence and vulnerability programme and how it has contributed to violence reduction in the violence and vulnerability areas across England and Wales.
The second day was an opportunity to share details of interventions and programmes which are consistent across the violence and vulnerability partnerships nationally.
There was real insight gained into data and how we are making advances, and also the benefits of the partnership approach to data sharing. We also spent time working with the partnerships who share similar demographics and areas to identify collaboration opportunities.
Overall, it was a beneficial experience and we will use insight gained from the day in developing the progress of the violence and vulnerability partnership
