ECVYS launch “We Love Youth Work”
Last night we joined with partners at ECVYS AGM (Essex Council of Voluntary Youth Services) to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
ECVYS held their AGM at Layer Marney Tower which also included a celebration of the last 50 years supporting Essex voluntary youth organisations and the launch of their We Love Youth Work campaign.
We Love Youth Work uses a short, powerful film to demonstrate the impact youth work has both on young people and those that deliver youth work.
From creating friendships, providing safe spaces, allowing access to sport and activities, supporting with mental health needs, building confidence, self-esteem and life skills, the benefits young people gain from being involved in youth clubs and youth settings is incredible.
In order to ensure every young person can find out what youth work is available in their local area ECVYS has created the Essex Map, an online resource young people can use to find activities on offer near them. Youth groups are encouraged to upload their details to the Essex Map in order to build a comprehensive resource showing all the great projects available for our young people.
Attendees at the 50th celebrations also enjoyed a performance by KYDS Youth Drama Society, a discussion on the importance of partnership in delivering successful youth work, guest speakers and of course amazing cake!
