PRISE week at Chelmsford College
Last week students at Chelmsford College took part in PRISE week (Prepare, Respect, Inspire, Safe, Engage). Working closely with Chelmsford City Council, a comprehensive programme was coordinated which consisted of a range of timetabled workshops, talks and demonstrations designed to give learners the opportunity to develop, reflect, be mindful and prepare for life beyond college.
The VVU was keen to support the initiative and the college and so we funded five different providers to attend the week and give presentations on internet safety, drugs and county lines, knife harm and prevention, unhealthy relationships and women’s safety.
Students also had the opportunity to select sessions on road safety, graffiti workshops, upcycling tips and skills, auditions for the college band, sporting challenges, first aid and mobile photography skills – to name just a few!
Some of the workshops students could choose to attend, other workshops the students were directed to as part of their timetable of learning that week. The range of workshops spread over the five days ensured learners could attend a variety of options, making sure all students gained from the experience.
Feedback from the college was extremely positive with the students also saying they appreciated the week and being able to learn things outside their regular timetable.
