The VVU turns Ultimate Ninja
Last week members of the VVU visited Ultimate Ninja in Colchester to meet some of the providers working across Essex, who use sport and physical activity to divert young people away from youth crime and violence.
The event, hosted by the Active Essex Foundation, included inputs about the evidence and research that shows the impact sport and physical activities have in deterring and preventing vulnerable young people from becoming engaged in risk-taking or anti-social behaviours or escalating into serious violence and crime.
Organisations at the event had the chance to participate in some of the activities on offer at Ultimate Ninja – an obstacle course, nerf gun wars and sumo wrestling – while taking the opportunity to network and share ideas and best practice of using sport as a diversionary activity. It was a great event, with many positive connections made by those organisations present.
